Average hours/week: 5-7 Hours Per Week (Before Summer Program)

During Summer Program: 7 a.m. - 6 p.m. , July 21 – July 26, 2024 
 
The Sports Industry Academy is an organization that works closely with top sports executives, corporations and educational institutions in preparing our future sports industry leaders.  From workshops to consulting services, the Sports Industry Academy provides the vehicle to introduce the plethora of opportunities in the $600+ billion dollar sports industry.

 

Summer Program

The Sports Industry Academy Summer Program will provide an introduction to the $500 + Billion Sports Industry to mature and highly talented high school and college students from across the country. Prominent sports executives will guide Scholars on the inner-workings of the sports industry. 

In addition to learning about the business of sports, the high school/College scholars cohort will be provided with an introduction to the academic environment of our host, U.C. Santa Barbara

Scholars will receive an exclusive and comprehensive daylong workshop by a Senior Admissions Counselor on how to navigate the university admissions process, including keys on writing a “winning” personal statement.

Internship Requirements:

Must be available July 21 – July 26 from 7:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. every day.

Must be enrolled as an undergraduate student at UCSB. June graduates may apply.

Must be in good academic standing.

Must have their own housing.

Qualifications:

Must be able to think “Outside the Box.”

Sincere interest in the business of sports.

Knowledgeable in social media posting.

Knowledge in navigating Google Suite

Knowledge of creating within Canva

Must be well organized and able to create spreadsheets

Ability to conduct research within the sports and education industry.

Ability to work interdependently with the Sports Industry Academy professional staff.

Ability to work with sports executives and professional athletes.

Ability to assist in bringing new ideas to the table.

Ability to openly participate in group decision-making that benefits the program and the Sports Industry Scholars.

Is able to relate to concerns of the Scholars and parents from all backgrounds.

Ability to be a positive role model for the Scholars in areas of academics and the business of sports.

Ability to communicate well, both written and verbal.

Ability to take direction from the Director.

Ability to work effectively under pressure.

Ability to act as an official representative of the Sports Industry Academy.

Patience, stamina, and good humor.

The Sports Industry Academy’s comprehensive program equips scholars from underserved high schools, California Community Colleges and Universities with the necessary skills and knowledge to excel as sports executives. Through tailored mentorship, training, and hands-on experience, the Sports Industry Academy provides a foundation for the next generation of sports executives, ensuring a more diverse, inclusive, and innovative sports industry.
