About the Sports Industry Academy

The Sports Industry Academy (SIA) is a one-week residential summer program hosted at UC Santa Barbara, designed to introduce high school and community college students to the $600+ billion sports industry. Scholars gain real-world exposure to careers in media, marketing, law, team operations, and entrepreneurship while receiving hands-on guidance around the college admissions process—including personal statement writing, financial aid, and academic planning.

Position Overview

We’re looking for a committed and student-focused Program / Summer Residential Intern to support the successful delivery of the 2025 Sports Industry Academy. This on-site, short-term internship is ideal for someone who enjoys working with students, thrives in a team setting, and can balance logistical tasks with personal mentorship.

Interns will live in residence at UCSB for the duration of the program and play a key role in supporting daily operations, leading group activities, and building community among scholars.

Key Responsibilities

👥 Student Engagement & Mentorship

  • Build strong rapport with scholars through daily check-ins and informal conversations

  • Help lead group discussions, icebreakers, and evening debriefs

  • Foster a positive, inclusive residential culture

🗂 Program Support & Admin Tasks

  • Assist with check-in/out, session setup, attendance, and timekeeping

  • Ensure smooth transitions between sessions, meals, and events

  • Help coordinate materials and speaker needs

📝 Workshop Assistance

  • Support facilitators during panels and hands-on workshops

  • Help scholars stay on task and engaged in activities

  • Assist in note-taking, room setup, and logistics during sessions

📲 Optional Content Support

  • Capture photos or videos of program highlights for social media or archives

  • Assist with end-of-day recaps or quote gathering if comfortable

What We’re Looking For

  • Current college student or recent graduate (all majors welcome)

  • Prior experience working with youth or peers in a mentoring, residential, or leadership capacity

  • Strong communication, organization, and time management skills

  • Reliable, adaptable, and comfortable in a fast-paced team setting

  • Passion for education, equity, and/or the sports industry

  • Must be available to live on campus from July 20–25, 2025
